Hey y’all! Today my fantastically funny and sparkly friend Kristan from Confessions of a Cookbook Queen is guest posting. Every time Kristan posts, I make sure I don’t have a drink in my hand, because I’m sure to be howling with laughter as I read, and it’s not ideal to spray the monitor with Diet Coke (not that I know from experience or anything). Kristan is one of the kindest bloggers I know. She’s always helping other people, and I’m so grateful she agreed to help me while I’m on vacation! She’s just that kind of wonderful. And now I need a brownie.
Hey guys!! I’m Kristan from Confessions of a Cookbook Queen and I came over here to give you some brownies.
Virtually, I mean. Obviously I can’t REALLY give you brownies right now. Although it would be super cool if people could give us stuff through the computer, wouldn’t it?
But it would be scary too. I mean, hello spam folder.
Anyways, I made you brownies because if you’re on a site called Bluebonnets and Brownies you obviously like brownies a lot. So I figured that these were guaranteed to make all of Amber’s readers love me and carry me off on their shoulders chanting my name or something, which has been a lifelong dream of mine.
And of course, as the person being carried off on shoulders, my job would be to act humble yet triumphant at the same time. Which I’ve been practicing. So…are you ready to do this thing?
Cookies and Cream Brownies
Ingredients
Brownie batter (use your favorite recipe or a mix–I used Ghiradelli Double Chocolate)
15 Cookies and Cream Hershey Kisses
15 Oreos
1/2 stick salted butter, softened
4 oz (1/2 block) cream cheese, softened
1-2 Tablespoons heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups powdered sugar
Directions
Preheat oven according to brownie directions. Line an 8×8 pan with foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
Roughly chop Hershey Kisses and 10 of the Oreos. Fold into the brownie batter and pour batter into prepared pan. Bake until brownies are set and place on a cooling rack until completely cooled.
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, beat butter, cream cheese and vanilla on medium speed until smooth. Add powdered sugar and beat on low until just mixed. Add one tablespoon of heavy cream and beat on high for one minute.
Crush remaining 5 Oreos and fold into frosting. If frosting is too thick, add another tablespoon of cream.
Spread cooled frosting on brownies.
That’s it. Eat them. Or share them. Whatevs.
Please don’t judge me for using a brownie mix. In my defense, I’m a mom and I’m always busy cleaning or cutting cheese into cubes or folding paper airplanes or whatever.
Also, I do not actually drink milk, but if I DID, it would be in a miniature martini glass as pictured above. I think that’s probably the best way.
Thanks so much to Amber for letting me visit today and I hope to see you guys over on my blog!!
