Giveaway: Jacob Bromwell Grater Set

There are certain tools in my kitchen that I cherish. I use them every day, in multiple ways, and they mean even more to me because they’re heritage pieces. Pieces that I inherited from Nanny or my mom, things that I grew up using.

I’ve spoken before about my favorite ice cream scoop, a scoop my Nanny gave me about two years ago. It was hers for the entirety of her marriage, purchased in the late 50s. It still works like a charm today in my kitchen, and every time I hold it, I think fondly of Nanny and Gaga, and the nights when Gaga would sneak off to the kitchen and make us all cake cones with chocolate ice cream right before bed, much to Nanny’s dismay.

When the folks at Jacob Bromwell approached me to review some of their products, I was intrigued. They’ve been around for 192 years. One hundred and ninety-two years! I am in love with every single product on their site – from the fireplace popcorn popper to the flour sifters, every single item on the Jacob Bromwell site screams heritage.

I was both surprised and delighted to realize that the St. Joseph Flat Shredders set on Jacob Bromwell’s site is the exact same set Nanny had in her kitchen throughout my childhood. Lord knows how old they were – I asked my mom, and she said she remembered them from her childhood. Nanny’s (and now my mom’s) set works as well today as if it were brand new.

So when the JB guys asked if I’d like to review those shredders, well – it’s a no brainer! I’ve now got another heirloom piece in my kitchen, only they’re brand new! Holding the tin shredders was literally like a throwback to my childhood. The hours Nanny had me on a stepping stool, shredding potatoes for hashbrowns, slicing cheese for grilled cheese.. you name it, these guys were her all purpose tools and now they’re mine!
