Remember the other day when I said my niece and nephew no longer have high fructose corn syrup in their diets?
Well, not so surprisingly, that makes ice pop purchasing kinda difficult. This summer has been a never ending parade of learning to read labels for my sister, and a whole lotta saying “No”. That can be so stressful – I’m sure any parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent or babysitter can agree.
There’s a local company here in New Jersey doing something wonderful, so when they asked if I’d be willing to try out their whole-fruit-nothing-but-the-good-stuff ice pops, I jumped at the chance.
Power of Fruit bars are – and I am not joking around here – good enough to eat for breakfast. Each bar has 1/2 a serving of real fruit, and I just love how the ingredients on the nutrition label read. Check this out:

No added sugar. Chunks of real fruit. It’s like a fruit salad – just frozen.
My favorite flavor is Banana Berry – it tastes *exactly* like my favorite Jamba Juice flavor. There are five flavors in all: All Fruit, Tropical, Banana Berry, Orange Tango, and Cherry Berry. James is partial to the Orange Tango.
I wasn’t kidding about the breakfast idea. How thrilled would your kids be to get an ice pop with their breakfast? With no food dyes or chemicals, they’re not going to end up with that nefarious ice pop red stained upper lip before school, but they are going to get an extra serving of fruit.
At just 27-35 calories depending on your flavor choice, why not? But you can also go the traditional route and save them for after school snacks.
They’re not just for kids though. James and I have been noshing on these ice pops for a few weeks now, and we LOVE them. Even grown ups have a sweet tooth, and need to make sure we’re getting our daily fruit and vegetable requirements, right?
