Strawberry Lemon Cupcakes are light and sweet, and full of tart lemon flavor. The strawberry buttercream is impossible to resist. I feel sorry for winter babies. Being one myself, I know the envy that is birthday pool parties, slip and slides and barbecue parties, or, well, pretty much any outdoor party you can think of. …
Strawberries
This weekend I got a hankering for some muffins. Fluffy, filled with fruit and spices, and exactly the kind of breakfast to make me smile all week long. Strawberry Clementine Muffins were born. Last year, James and I went to Nashville for my cousin David’s wedding. I was dying to visit the famous Loveless Cafe, …
Remember when I made those delicious pork egg rolls? Well, as James and I rolled them out, we realized we’d have a few extra egg roll wrappers hanging around after we worked through the pork filling. My mind immediately flew back to one of the most incredible desserts I’ve ever had: the Banana and Sea …
Last week was pretty crazy around here. Between celebrating B & B’s anniversary, and dealing with a very sick cat that ended up in the Vet ER for several days, I thought I might lose a little bit of my mind. Milo before he got poorly sick, on his favorite blankie. It used to be …
I’m not much one for pressuring other people in the grocery store about what to buy. Over the years, I’ve become more informed about where my food comes from, and that leads me to make choices that may be different from mainstream America. Occasionally, I’ve been accused by my midwestern brother-in-law for being a food …
I hope you guys enjoyed all the guest posts last week. I am so grateful to have such good friends willing to offer up their hard work to fill in. That’s really what life is about, isn’t it? Good friends, there for you during the tough times. One thing about going home to San Antonio …
I’m always on the quest for ways to use black bananas. We have this problem where our grocery store gets really really green bananas, and they seem to go from deep green to black, without a middle stage. This last trip, I also bought strawberries for a separate recipe I was making that will appear in the coming weeks. I only ended up using a few of them though. Now, strawberries are not going to go to waste in this house, but when StumpleUpon drops you on a recipe for Strawberry Banana bread, and you just happen to have black bananas and strawberries in your kitchen at the same time, I think the Universe is trying to tell you something.
I’ve been meaning to get an entry up for a while. I missed all the Valentine’s Day shennanigans, so instead, I’ll bring you a cake perfect for Easter-Spring-Fiestaish celebrations. It used to be that I’d pick up a box of cake mix and just.. follow the instructions. But last year, I started reading other food …
