A Final Update
September 24th, 2011
Together we raised $1535 for the Red Cross of Central Texas. More than THREE times my original goal. I cannot thank you all enough. Each of the winners have been drawn, contacted, their prizes chosen, and sponsors notified. This would not have been the success it is without the generosity of those sponsors, and without the generosity of each of the donators. Thank you.
First, I wanted to thank each and every one of you for reading, spreading the word, and donating when you could on our Red Cross of Central Texas fundraising raffle. I have been overjoyed to see the support that has come out for this effort – but not surprised. The world is full of caring people, even when the news channels would have us believe otherwise.
This post is a little bit of an update about where we are, and where I hope to be tomorrow night. As of 9:40 a.m. EST, we have raised $1,355 for the Disaster Relief arm of the Red Cross of Central Texas. Those funds are going directly to help the Texas Wildfire victims.
When I started out with this little idea, I thought it would be nice to raise $500 – a little over the total cost of the three prizes I initially started out with.
But then Scharffen Berger Chocolate, Miss from Miss in the Kitchen, and Shawnda from Confections of a Foodie Bride came out of the woodwork and offered more prizes. People have thanked me for organizing this effort, but honestly, the real thanks goes to each of the companies and bloggers that donated their products, money, and time to offer you guys something in return for donating. We couldn’t have done it without them.
There are now 6 prizes up for grabs. The raffle closes tomorrow at midnight EST. My hope is that by then, we can all say that we helped raise $1,500 for the Texas Wildfire victims.
For all that you have done, I thank you. If you could spread the word or donate $10 to get us to that goal, I thank you more. Texas thanks you more.
I have emailed raffle ticket numbers to everyone who has donated so far. If you do not have an email from me, please check your spam folder, or contact me at [email protected] to let me know.
If you’d like to do something else, take a moment to like or follow each of these folks on Twitter, Facebook or both!
